I’m Thinking of an Animal

Give your child clues about an animal you are thinking of. Let him guess the animal and then take a turn describing while you guess.

  • -Read "Happy Birthday to Whooo?" by Doris Fisher and help your child expand his repertoire of clues with this baby animal riddle book.

    -Play the “I’m Thinking of…” game with other categories such as family members, types of food, favorite books, etc.

Adjust for an older child

Make the game more challenging by using clues that cause the child to rely on his growing knowledge and vocabulary about animals. For example, “This animal’s habitat is the desert.”

Adjust for a younger child

Make the game easier by giving more explicit clues such as the noise the animal makes.
