Extending this activity

  • -Include more than two people in the activity. Add sticky notes to show where each person landed. Compare and contrast who jumped the farthest, shortest, same distance, etc.

-Read "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" by James Marshall. Ask the child to show you which chair is the largest and to order the items by size.

Adjust for an older child

Record the jump measures on a piece of paper. Each person can jump three times to find the “best out of 3.”

Adjust for a younger child

Instead of reading the numbers on a tape measure, use a sticky note to show where each person landed. Talk about who had the longest jump and who had the shortest jump.
