Go on a number hunt at the grocery store! Give your child a number to find. Once she finds it, suggest a different number.

Extending this activity

  • .-Read the book “Numbers” by Henry Pluckrose. Encourage the child to find and name the numbers.

    -Go on a magazine number hunt! Find the numbers one through ten in a magazine. This is a great game to play in a waiting room.

Adjust for an older child

Challenge the older child to find an exact price. You may need to give him or her hints about the item.

Adjust for a younger child

Encourage the younger child to find the numbers one through five. You may need to point to the area the number can be found and describe attributes of the number.
